DIYs are cheap, fun projects that spice up objects in your home, but people don’t typically finish what they start. Some DIY projects cost you some serious time and money. Here are five easy, fast and cheap ways to add a little spunk to your life- without breaking your wallet.
1.DIY Ping Pong Ball lights
This fun project is simple and can be done at home. All you need is three items: LED lights, ping pong balls, and scissors.
Step 1: Buy some ping pong balls, (prices go for $3 and up), and can be bought at any sports store.
Step 2: Find/buy some LED lights, (Christmas lights).
Step 3: Find some scissors.
Step 4: Cut a hole in the ping pong ball using the scissors.
Step 5: Stick the LED light in the ping pong ball.
Step 6: Admire your handy work; you’ve made a light for any room for a low price.
2. DIY Jar Lantern (CAUTION!!!)
This out-of-this-world do it yourself article is both easy and fun to do. All that is needed is an empty jar, scissors, glitter and a glow stick. This project can be kind of messy as well, so better to do it outside or on something you wouldn’t mind ruining.
Step 1: Find an empty jar, it doesn’t matter from what. It can be from a pickle jar, an olive jar, any jar really.
Step 2: Buy some glow sticks. They can be found at any store, but mostly party stores.
Step 3: Get a pair of scissors, but make sure they are sharp enough to cut through plastic.
Step 4: Get some glitter, the color is up to you. It can be bought at any store, but the best place to find it is at art stores.
Step 5: Use the scissors to cut the glow stick to get the dibutyl phthalate (glowy stuff inside the glow stick) out.
Step 6: Pour the glowy chemical inside the jar, with the glitter.
Step 7: Close the jar, and shake it.
3. DIY Glitter Globe
This cute, Christmas-y do-it-yourself projects is both festive and a nice gift to give to a family member/friend. All that is required is water, glitter, a jar, glue and a little decoration.
Step 1: Find an empty jar: not too large and not too small.
Step 2: Buy some glitter if you don’t have any lying around.
Step 3: Get some water from anywhere (tap is more than okay).
Step 4: Get glue, (liquid is the best to use). design a fun scene or a small picture with your decorations.
Step 5: Glue the decoration to the lid of the jar, and of course, wait for it to dry.
Step 6: Add glitter and water to the jar.
Step 7: Glue the lid to the jar.
Step 8: Admire your homemade snow glitter globe.
4. DIY Bottle Piggy Bank
This adorable piggy bank is both cheap and easy to make. The only items needed will be pink spray paint, a few pieces of cardboard, boggle eyes and a sharp object used to cut.
Step 1: Get a large liter bottle and cut out the middle.
Step 2: Tape the top and bottom bottle together (minus middle).
Step 3: Spray paint the bottle pink, and wait for it to start, respectively.
Step 4: Glue boggle eyes to the top of the bottle, where the nose (bottle cap) is.
Step 5: Cut out cardboard to make the ears and the tail (make them pink, so it matches the pig).
Step 6: Cut a little slit at the top of the pig to put money in.
Step 6: Draw little nostrils on the nose (cap).
Step 7: Start placing money in your new piggy bank.
5. DIY Spoon Candle Holder
This crafty project is one of the cheaper ones on the list. It’s also one of the most simple and fun to do. All that is needed is some glue (preferably hot), plastic spoons, scissors and a plastic cup.
Step 1: Cut the handle of plastic spoons off.
Step 2: Hot glue them to the plastic cup.
Step 3: Start from the top and glue in a circle along the rim first.
Step 4: Add another row of spoon tops below, but glue between two from the above row.
Step 5: Repeat steps 1-4 until the cup is completed and looks like a flower.
Step 6: Admire your good work.
