Tyler, the Creator and A$AP Rocky have officially released their collaborative single on the 28th of September after a leak in July. Speculations of Tyler and Rocky’s new project, “WANG$AP,” whose name was revealed in the unofficial release, have risen with the recent drop.

After many loose tracks released by Tyler earlier this year, the rapper continues to give us a steady flow of enjoyable content. With the recent release of Flower Boy, I’ve been anticipating more collaborative projects with Tyler, especially after listening to songs like See You Again which features the likes of Kali Uchis and Droppin’ Seeds which includes a couple bars from Lil Wayne. I particularly enjoyed Who Dat Boy, so seeing Rocky and Tyler work together was a welcome sight.

What stood out the most about this song was the lyrical genius, rather the lyrical comedy, which both rappers are infamous for. I found myself  giggling to lines like: “You get pressed and X out, tri-angle your nose/ Pause your life if you squares try to mess with my O’s, whoa”

These lines definitely have me nostalgic for “Goblin” and “Wolf” Tyler rapping equally creative and vulgar bars over catchy beats.

Speaking of beats, the instrumental is sampled from Kanye West’s Apologize, who happens to be one of the producers of this track, the other being Missy Elliot, meaning this has the backing from two extremely influential artists in the rap scene.

A combo of unique lyrics and a solid beat has me confident and excited for “WANG$AP’s” success and Tyler’s future. My only concern is if Flower Boy’s hype and incredible instrumentals will carry over to his next project.
