On Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019, Palo Verde high school and Sig Rogich middle school were placed on a soft lock down at 9:07 and quickly switched to a hard lock down at 9:10. The schools went on lockdown due to an officer involved shooting. The shooting took place near Alta and Pavilion Center drive. Metro police were looking for a wanted individual in the area. There were no police officers  injured and the suspect was taken to University Medical Center. The suspect’s injuries are currently unknown. The lockdown ended at around 9:35 and classes resumed.
