Netflix dropped a brand new Asian American television show called Wu Assassins on August 8th. This supernatural crime show has a total of 10 episodes that are about 42 minutes long
The cast includes martial arts star Iko Uwais who plays Kai, Bryon Mann who plays Uncle Six, and an undercover cop named Christine played by Canadian actress Katheryn Winnick.
The show stars Kai who becomes a protector of Chinatown and must stop the coming apocalypse. He obtains the power of 100 monks and the ability to control the elements. There are five villains who hold power of an element and uses it in an evil way. Kai must fight and kill every person who holds the power of the elements to protect the world, with help from his close friends, neighbors, and the monks.
Every few episodes, there are new villains and problems to be solved with drama and epic fight scenes that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
“The show was really fun to watch and had a lot of intriguing plot pieces,” said Ethan Hsaio, sophomore at Palo Verde.
When asked if there should be a second season, he said, “The show was good but not that good. Netflix deserves to develop something that appeals to more people.”
When questioned about a second season, Trinton Le said, “I feel like it should have a season 2 because it left off on a cliffhanger and has some unanswered questions.”
Overall, the show does rush some parts, and the tiny bit of romance felt forced and unnatural. However, it was entertaining, action-packed and worth watching.
