On Tuesday, December 2nd, the Lady Panthers stepped onto the court for the first home game of the season against the Las Vegas Wildcats. The Panthers brought home their first win of the season with a final score of 44-32.

The game started off with the Wildcats scoring two points, followed by a technical foul against the Panthers for the Wildcats to score an additional point from a free-throw.

Kaionna Hanna followed back with a two-pointer of her own, giving the Panthers a spot on the scoreboard of 2-3.

By the end of the first half, the Panthers had taken a strong lead of 20-12. At halftime, the crowd enjoyed an amazing performance by the Belladonnas.

“At halftime, I knew we were in a good spot as a team because we were capable of holding Las Vegas to twelve points. We struggled offensively at the start, yet we were still able to put up twenty points. I knew our offense would increase in the second half,” said starting guard Alyssa Maillaro.

The second half kicked off with Carissa Salazar scoring a three-pointer adding on to the Panthers’ lead.

A foul against the Wildcats allowed Hanna to make a free throw giving the Panthers an extra point.

The girls played hard for the remaining of the game continuously adding more points on the scoreboard. They started off the season demonstrating their strength and determination to preform well.

“After winning this game, I felt so relieved because it was quite the battle against Vegas. I knew that since we pushed through this game that we can do it every time for other games in the season,” said Salazar.
