After waiting a long 20 years, CBS has finally given “Survivor” fans what they have asked for. February 12, 2020, the first episode of “Survivor: Season 40 Winners at War” was released for all fans to enjoy.

Since this is season 40, Jeff Probst has expressed how he and the producers of “Survivor” knew that they would have to create something memorable, something that all the viewers will love. As a result, this season features 20 past winners of the show who are competing for the title of winner of all winners (along with two million dollars).

Although the concept is mindblowing, it is the fan-favorite winners that everyone looks forward to watching play. Most fans seem to have a favorite, or their pick for the winner this season whether it be Amber Mariano, Tyson Apostol, Wendell Holland, or really anyone.

As a fan of “Survivor”, I can surely say that this is a season that I am hooked on. Because all contestants may be considered experts of the game (being winners), there is no time wasted on contestants who “can’t believe that they are living their dream” or are “so excited just to be on the Fiji island”.

Everyone is out for blood and is keeping their eye on the prize, which causes so much tension due to how high stakes are. Right off the bat on episode one, many players have stood out, and not just from their time on the show but also what they have done between their time they won and the latest season.

Take Ethan Zohn (one of the castaways) as an example, after his winning “Survivor: Africa”, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a rare form of cancer. He eventually was able to beat the cancer, before it returned and he was able to beat it again and is now doing great.

Seeing players like Ethan back for more just makes the show that much better in my eyes. Even Rob and Amber Mariano provide viewers with a power couple to root for.

After meeting and falling in love on season 8 of “Survivor”, Rob Mariano (largely known as “Boston Rob”) proposed to Amber during the finale. They now live happily with their four children and both came to play again this season.

Having such an outstanding cast, viewers most likely will not be able to predict exactly what will happen. The first episode provided a bit of background for each character along with a look into how they plan to play their game, so viewers did not get a chance to see new strong alliances form.

Overall I personally found the first episode of “Survivor: Season 40 Winners at War” extremely enjoyable to watch. If you are not familiar with the “Survivor” series and are looking to get into it, this is the season to watch as it will demonstrate a great use of strength, wit, gameplay, and more.
