Fall is slowly creeping up to us panthers. Starbucks recently dropped their new line of fall drinks on August 24. When the ad dropped, people on Tik Tok, Instagram, Twitter, etc. could not stop talking about it.
The lineup of drinks are the Pumpkin Spice Latte, Iced Crisp Apple Macchiato, Apple Crisp Macchiato, and Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino. Starbucks did add some fall food items such as the Fox Cake Pop, Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin, and Pumpkin Scone.
The Pumpkin Spice Latte is the fan favorite that everyone craves when fall comes around. It tastes like a smooth, creamy, sweet pumpkin pie with a shot or two of espresso that comes either heated or chilled. The sweetness comes from the cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin, and clove, which are all traditional fall spices. The bitterness of the espresso compliments all of those ingredients perfectly and tones down the sweetness a bit.
The Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew tastes more like coffee than sugar. It comes with two pumps of vanilla syrup, pumpkin cream cold foam, pumpkin spice topping, and ice. So, if you don’t like the sweetness from the latte, then this cold brew is perfect for you. Both of these drinks give you a comforting seasonal jolt that anyone would enjoy in their day.
The Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino is the sweetest drink out of the lineup. It has the same taste as the Pumpkin Spice Latte, just without the bitterness from the caffeine. It only comes cold because it is blended with ice.
I tried the new Apple Crisp Macchiato, iced and hot versions. This drink is new to Starbucks and is supposed to have one shot of espresso on the bottom, 2% milk in the middle, and a drizzle of their Apple Crisp Syrup on the top.
The iced version tasted so much more different than the hot. It tasted exactly like apple pie in a cup with ice cream on the side and a little bitterness from the espresso. I loved this drink, and it’s my new go-to at Starbucks.
The hot version of this drink has the exact same ingredients of the ice drink, but I personally don’t like it as much as the iced version because all I could taste was the milk and not much from the espresso or syrup. It was still good though.
I asked some fellow Palo Verde students if they have heard about the new line of drinks released, if they tried any, and if they would like to try any at some point.
An anonymous Palo Verde student heard about the new fall drinks, but would love to try them later. They love pumpkin, fall spices, and overall fall makes them feel cozy. They would like to try some of the drinks at some point.
Adrianna Perconte, a Senior said “I’ve heard about the new drinks, but I haven’t tried them yet. I’ve tried an iced chai with pumpkin foam on top!”
These drinks were amazing. All of them really brought autumn out and made me and others feel very comforted.
Starbucks did a wonderful job, and I can’t wait to see if they’re going to release anymore in the future.
