The 2022 spring musical for Palo Verde Theatre whisks its audience away to a world of magic and fairy tales with the Broadway hit “Into The Woods.”

“Into The Woods” was written by Stephen Sondheim in 1986 and adapted into a 2014 film by Disney. The original musical is three and a half hours long, but the Palo Verde production will only include the one-hour-long act one.

The musical follows the storylines of beloved fairytale characters like Cinderella, Prince Charming, Rapunzel, and many more. It also adds its own characters, such as a childless baker and his wife.

Everyone in the musical has their own wish, and to get that wish, they must travel into the mystical woods. Each new scene brings more enchantment, danger, and even love than the last. You’ll be on the edge of your seat one moment, then cheering the next.

Plus, the musical’s songs are beautifully composed. Some are bathed in charm and wit like “Agony” while others are fantastical masterpieces like “Stay With Me.” Above all, though, fun is featured in every neck of this musical’s woods.

At Palo Verde, actors and backstage technicians alike have been preparing for showtime. Daily after school rehearsals contain anything from choreography and singing to memorization and characterization. Technicians have been diligently building set pieces, coordinating lighting and audio, making costumes, and practicing showtime stagework.

Even with the stress of showtime closing in, everyone involved in “Into The Woods” is excited to put on a great show. The cast and behind-the-scenes crew are talented beyond compare, and the energy and passion they all bring into this performance are contagious.

The show will be performed at 6PM on March 30, 31, and April 1, 2022. Tickets are being sold on showtix4u.com and at the doors with $12 tickets for the first two rows and $10 tickets for general admission. Enjoy the show, panthers!
